Scottish Forestry
Logo Design; Layout Design; Visual Identity;
Scottish Forestry is the Scottish Government agency responsible for forestry policy, support and regulation. Formerly part of Forestry Commission Scotland, they needed an identity that had a clear visual differentiation from the Forestry Commission (still present in England) and Forestry and Land Scotland. It was important to reflect their relationship to the Scottish Government as well as the technical expertise they’ve always been known for.
The mixture of angular and round geometry is a representation of diversity of species across conifer and broadleaf trees. A variety of green hues further emphasises biodiversity while harmoniously integrating The Saltire blue. The tessellated nature of the logo allows it to expand into a responsive pattern that embodies Scottish Forestry’s ambition to grow Scotland’s forests.
